OBJECTIVE:
TRANSFORM A 1940’S KITCHEN INTO A MODERN DAY FUNCTIONAL SPACE FOR A FAMILY OF 4, WHILE MAINTAINING THE CHARACTER AND CHARM OF THE ORIGINAL HOUSE. ADD AN INFUSION OF ART DECO
BUDGET: 120K
When my husband and I purchased our West Akron home, we had an idea to do future renovation and addition to our kitchen, but really wanted to make sure whatever update we did honored the style of our 1940s colonial. We wanted the kitchen update to look modern but feel like it always could have been there. When we found Shawn, we felt right away that it was a good fit. His kitchen design melded our love of Art Deco while making a contemporary space that met the needs of our family and lifestyle. There are so many small design details that help to blend the new kitchen with the character of our house.
Whenever you do a big house project, it’s a balance between budget, timeline, and function. But the biggest key to us was having the right people, and we were so lucky to work with Shawn who helped guide the process and assembled a great team that made it all possible. Our style was blended with Shawn’s design aesthetic and he pulled colors and elements from the rest of our house for a cohesive look and feel. He kept us informed throughout the process and we could tell through all his recommendations, he really understood our needs as a busy family. We couldn’t be happier with how our kitchen addition turned out. It’s not only a beautiful and functional space, it helped enhance the way we use and live in our house.
